Over the millennia, India has produced a galaxy of enlightened masters. In turn, these glorious beings offered their learning and knowing to society to enable people to attain to the same state for generation after generation.
Even as the Adiyogi statue was nearing completion and Isha Foundation had announced that it would be unveiled by the Prime Minister on the occasion of Mahashivaratri 2017, vested-interest groups started putting together their dossiers of allegations and accusations. This slander has since been providing sustained fodder to the rumor mill. Trial by media, funded protests, frivolous law suits, calumnious WhatsApp forwards – every trick in the book has been employed to discredit the Adiyogi statue.
There have been allegations and accusations floating around that Isha Foundation has encroached upon Forest lands. We would like to emphatically reiterate that these are entirely untrue and baseless allegations created in a determined effort to discredit and tarnish the good name of Isha Foundation.
The land where the Yoga Center stands is 100% patta land purchased legally from private individuals. These lands have been private holdings for generations before Isha Foundation was even founded.
In the past couple of years, there has been quite a lot of slanderous talk in certain sections of the media about Isha Yoga Center and the environment around us. Accusations of many kinds have been made: that we have encroached on the forests, that we have built on elephant corridors, that we have razed whole tropical rainforests, that we are chopping trees indiscriminately and mindlessly.
